Dreams within Dreams

The dream is me,
but I'm the dreamer.
Is the dreamer just a dream?

I see me, 
but I'm the seer.
Am I not what I may seem?

An impasse,
for Alice in the Looking glass - 
is this perception's trick?

An inversion,
I have another version -
which one should I pick?
