Dreams Weep

The bridge of friendship crumbles
over a river of hurt and pride
Two souls stumble
alone across an empty great divide

A kingdom full of promise is forever lost
by the choice to tear down and rip apart
Kindness could have been the only cost
along with love for the other's beautiful heart

When death comes knocking on the door
with the hour of judgment at God's hand
Was it all about keeping score?
Or will they finally seek to understand?

Before another day comes to an end
Learn from this foolish pair
Give thanks to your precious friends
For the many treasures that they share

There is no saving what is burned in fire
We lose what we try too hard to keep
Fate has her own secret desire
Dreams weep as the angels go to sleep

Yes, many things can be lost. But not what is in our hearts, dear Karen! Nice thoughts. LUv, Andrea

Well written. We should cherish the moments spend with love ones, while managing conflicts with care.

Very good I liked your poem. I only started writing poems since my wife died in 2009 I can relate to rhyming poems better than others. As you can tell from my poems. A lot of poems I don’t understand and I would hate to give a wrong comment. I want my poems to honor my wife long after I’m gone. Thank you

Nicely done! I just went through circumstances like this with one of my best friends and this submission really puts things into perspective. Thanks for the read. Scott...
