Dreams That Carry Me Far Away
As I slide into my satin sheets
Feel their coolness caressing
Lying there my heart in chains
Aware of what I'm repressing
Finally slip off to dreamland
Where colors bright are swirling
Find myself light on my feet
Tip-toeing,jumping and twirling
Beautiful creatures surround me
On this world-defying plane
Animals both great and small
People making me smile again
We dance and lift our voices
Captured in iridescent light
While singing our hearts out
With joy we awaken the night
I want to stay here forever
Feeling this rapture deep
But of course morning arrives
And filters through my sleep
Lift my tousled head up
I'm back to earth it seems
Yet I remember each detail
Of those oh so heavenly dreams
