Dreams I Still Taste

When I close my eyes I fall...
I'm dropped into a soul with no walls...
In this dreamworld I'm forced to walk alone...
Strolling my past that's stripped to the bone...
I try to blow off the dust that sits on my tears...
All the stumbles and mistakes that won't disappear...
Free falling through hands and stares that have no faces...
And suddenly I'm dropped back down to familar places...
But the dream I still taste on the back of my tongue...
And for that day I breathe and swallow a dream still sung...

Michael, I just love how you worded those last two lines, "I still taste on the back of my tongue" That is good poetry, engaging the senses!

One thing I like about poetry is; how a poet defines(whatever) in their own dimensions, this makes for the reader to feel as if another artist has evolved ! Awesome dear poet ! Have a blessed week my friend ! Much love, james

Truly amazing, Michael. I love the way you describe the solitude of the dream world and how the memories of these dreams still affect you after you wake. Sometimes, a dream can have quite an impact on the rest of the day. The last line is priceless..."swallow a dream still sung." I can really relate to this poem. Best wishes in Tracie's contest, my friend! Love, Carolyn

Wow, this is somehow, I feel a dark here.. Love this though.. Multidimensional fall, I can relate so much. I felt this before, but hey, those time of worries and wearies only make our poems stronger, Mike. If this one came from your real event, write it out will be the best way :)

Beautiful poem, Michael! I enjoyed your word choice, as it painted an almost abstract painting in my mind about my own hopes and dreams that seem lost, or forgotten. A job very well done! Good luck in the contest!
