Dreams
It’s in our dreams
No role models for kids, parents telling them lies
Preaching to lead by example, but you only show your disguise
Families can’t stay together, people living separate lives
When did it change from partners to enemies between girls and guys?
Politicians and leaders are in competition with each other,
Instead of fighting together, we fight one another.
The last time I remember when anything was good,
Where I could walk to the store and not be scared of the hood
Where I could picture families not broken but united,
And where my neighbor wasn’t worried about what me and mine did
You can’t go there with open lids
Remember when you were a kid,
It’s in your dreams.
