Dream Sequence

Drifting off into a black space
To a land not far away
I see visions of another world
Where only kings and queens can play

There are jesters in the courtyard
There are dragons all around
I can feel my astral body
Being pulled down to the ground

Suddenly I'm standing
In the corner of a room
Where a princess is preparing
To wed the king of doom

I can see she isn't happy
With her future groom to be
I feel I've got to save her
From a life of misery

I go and stand beside her
I hold my hand up to her face
She turns and looks upon me
With a haunting style and grace

I take her hand and lead her
To a stairway down the hall
Where we use a secret passage
Hidden in the castle wall

It leads us to the courtyard
Where we find a steed of white
We quickly climb upon it
And we ride into the night

****

A man in shining armor
Kicks me from my sleep
He tells me I must fight him
For the honor of his king

I see the princess crying
And shaking with the fear
That fate will turn against her
If I lose the battle here

So I take the sword he hands me
And prepare to make my stand
When I see a flash of silver
Coming from his armored hand

The battle rages onward
For and hour from the start
Till at last I pierce the metal
And stop the beating of his heart

The princess comes to thank me
For the deed that I have done
She says that I'm a hero
With the victory that I've won

She reaches for her necklace
And she gently takes it off
It holds the royal emblem
Of the House of Amberlot

I know she can't go with me
And she knows I cannot stay
So she gives me one last kiss
Before she slowly fades away

****

The morning sun awoke me
With a bright and blinding ray
So I went to close the curtains
And begin a brand new day

As I started getting ready
I thought about my dream
And smiled at the notion
That I might have been a king

When I went to pick my watch up
From the little bedroom stand
I picked up something different
And held it in my hand

What I held was a medallion
Made of gold and finely cut
And the emblem carved upon it.....

... Was from the House of Amberlot

I wasn't expecting to like that. Though it's not my type of story normally... the way you tell it changes everything. Nice! Hey will you check my meter on Baptized in equality? No one is reading the poem and I poured it all out on that poem. I thought it was good. While I admit,( I got a little careless with a cpl other poems.) You should start charging for edits, and Title yourself "ROCK, the Meter Reader"
