Dream Recall

As a child I remember so clear
Walking down the hall
Half asleep and half awake
Kneeling to a crawl.

Stop can't move!
What is that?
Someone holding me?
Should I grab a bat?

A ghost perhaps
Or maybe Dad
Is this a dream
Oh, please it's bad

I can see the light
Of my Mom's lampshade
Almost there
I need aid.

I start to scream
No words come out
I feel frozen
Beyond a doubt.

A spirit maybe
Holding me?
Please let go
Set me free.

Oh thank god
I can move
I run I run
Get back my groove.

Mom and Dad
Come quick and look
Stop your talking
And reading books.

Nothings there
See, lights on
Just a dream
Sleep till dawn.
