DREAM HOME

Oh, my, how excited, elated, I would be
to receive sudden financial prosperity.
The true appeal would not be the tangible
but the freedom I have longed to handle.

It is so easy and fun to imagine
the idyllic dream-cottage I would fashion.
If my pen and intent have successful flair,
Perhaps I can transport us all there.

One super, great thing about my new home
is the location in a unique, universal zone,
where society, by law, must leave me alone
and never again cause me or mine to groan.

First, I’d hand my home dreams to Thomas Kinkade
whose involvement my enthusiasm would persuade.
He would build my perfect cottage in a glade;
quaint goose bump appeal with each modern update.

Country, antique and Quaker furnishings throughout
would be joyously bought using my new clout.
I would slowly decorate within and without -
extend the thrill, I would without a doubt.

A Walt-Disney-mind will fashion green grounds
over which perfect billowing clouds will abound.
Cute, gleeful birds will provide uplifting sounds
and precious flowers will pop color all around.

Somewhere on my lush, beautiful property
will be awesome fun for others and me;
ATVs, a bowling alley and bumper cars;
a racquetball court where everyone stars;
a baseball field where rivalry will spar;
an inviting lake twinkling beneath the stars
where fishing and swimming are never barred;
and, a babbling brook playing nature’s guitar.

Every morning will wondrously begin.
Before any voice has even spoken,
a gorgeous song will be piped in,
Cat Steven’s singing, “Morning Has Broken.”

Such wonderful imagery ... I've seen pictures by Thomas Kincade they are quite idyllic and morning has broken I request nearly every week on the radio - Rick Wakeman who played the keyboards on it lives on the Island in fact I met him several times:-) I digress - congrats on your win:-0 hugs jan xx

Ah, but I enjoyed your digression! So we both love that song! Wouldn't it be great to hear every morn while waking and stretching in your bed! I am most interested about you meeting Wakeman - darn cool. Thank you for all the comments, Jan - they are wonderful to me ... CayCay

OMG, Caycay, this is hands down THE BEST one in the contest, at least in my humble opinion. you went all out with this one. You and I are so much alike on how we think. I would have done one very similar to this!! You almost described Jackson's Neverland. Gotta have the animals and carnival rides in there too. hahaha SEVEN

Thank you - thank you so much for sharing such enthusiasm which is also encouragement. The animals would make me most timid on my own property, though certain ones would be nice ... CayCay

What an awesome place you plan to live in, CayCay, on receiving 'sudden financial prosperity'! So glad that you'll be sharing it with others, but do keep the numbers down...the less the merrier in this case:) The babbling brook sounds lovely, and “Morning Has Broken” would make not just my morning, but my day! ~ Regards // paul

Love your taste. Enjoyed the comment about the ATV as I see it;s associated as an instrument of fun, for me they are a work horse, essential for day to day jobs.

I'm glad you're kidding - I was becoming concerned that we had a big-time communication break down. A painter, canvas, right? We good?

He may be universally known, but I'm a bit uneducated, uncouth, uncultured and to top it off a hick/bumpkin. ; ), Interior or exterior painting of cottages? Nice to think he did a bit of art work as well, most house painters I know aren't artistically inclined. ps just kidding with the last part ; )

I'm glad you came back and made me laugh. Kinkade's talent is as a painter of cottages and landscapes, but unfortunately it became overdone and his products flooded the U.S. When I first saw his work, I wanted to live in his paintings. I admit I'm a little disappointed to know he isn't universally known. Oh well ... CayCay

I've never heard of Kinkade, but yes Walt and I go a way back : ) I remember as a child sitting down on a Sunday night to the Wonderful World of Disney tv series. Of course Donald Duck, Goofy (I'm sure he must be my cousin) and Mickey provided lots of entertainment.

Hey, Buddy - I am so behind on PS - much to do and read which of course includes you. I drove my first ATV on the rough terrain of a mountain and fell in love! Regarding the poem, I am sure everyone knows of Walt Disney, but do not know if Kinkade is known the world over. Thank you for commenting ... CayCay
