Dream

If only I could shine like the sun,
And cast my light where darkness has spun.
Illuminating shadowed worlds so deep,
With poems that strike like lightning’s leap.

If ignorant souls could find their way,
Warmed by the fire my words convey.
If humanity gained from my humble art,
Perhaps that would heal the human heart.

Then, like a child, I’ll rejoice and sing,
Creating poems again, again soul spring.
With words as sweet as a bubbling stream,
Quenching thirsty hearts with a gleam.
