Draining the Reserves

I used to be much nicer. I once was really sweet. I’d smile at every stranger I’d cross paths with on the street. But as I’ve aged, I’ve noticed All that charm in my reserves Has evaporated, since so many Folks get on my nerves. Like the pushy, the obnoxious, Those too loud or dense or rude – They’ve demolished my demeanor And displaced my attitude. There’s a reason older people Turn cantankerous and cross For experience drains patience, Which is everybody’s loss.

Maybe it's big city angst. Or maybe just the norm. But when no one ever gives thanks it's time for some reform. But then again I'm just a grouch who sit's and thinks too much. And vedges out upon the couch in misery and such. :)

Perhaps we are less patient as we get older because our time is much more limited, therefore much more precious. I've noticed too, that others are much less patient with me now that I am old and slow.

It's true basic manners are missing from a lot of the younger generation Ilene. I was just thinking today, if I had a flat tire I'd be on my own trying to change it.

Yes, the years will have their say as you indicate in this work. The last two lines are the best. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Is that the reason I'm such an a**hole? I always wondered what happened to my good nature. I love this bit of wisdom, Ilene:)
