Dragonfly

DRAGON FLY:

I was sitting in my sunroom
Glancing at the sky
When I noticed on my window screen
There was a big old dragonfly

I opened up my window
So that I could set him free
But he just stayed there humming
As if he'd say to me

I see you Mr. Human
You're thoughtful and so kind
But I think I'll watch the sunset
That is, of course if you don't mind

So I fetched a spoon of water
And I got a crumb of bread
And I put it on my window sill
Before I went to bed

When I woke up in the morning
The dragonfly was free
And beside the spoon there was a note
It said, thank you, to me.

Awww, just love this one Charlie. This is the sort of thing I would do to help. What also appeals to me in your poem is that this could be told to young children as encouragement to help out living things in nature and the thank you note as acknowlegement for helping and doing a good thing. A FAV for me straight away. Hugs Emilia : )
