Doris To Little Light Cloud

Doris was an unhappy girl; her stepfather was stern. Her mother never stood up for her, no matter what. She did not like herself when the Cherokees grabbed her. But they showed her a new way and renamed her. When they had finished with her she was a new person. Little Light Cloud, a maiden who had fallen in love. When white men visited the village, she hid out. Never wanting to return to being unhappy Doris.

I'm so happy that "unhappy Doris" found a new life and happiness among the Cherokees. My paternal grandmother was Cherokee, so I have a wee bit of Cherokee in me. They are good people! I think my grandmother (or her parents) escaped the Trail of Tears by fleeing into the mountains of West Virginia.

I have no idea why I chose Cherokee for her tribe, it was automatic - I may have gleaned it from your brain.
