Don'T Make Me Have To Hurt You Again

Don’t Make Me Have to Hurt You Again

By Elton Camp

To explain her bruises and black eyes
Sue invents excuses and valiantly tries

Robert has been beating her some more
But she’ll cover for him just as before

Each time her mate apologizes and cries
But his promises prove to be more lies

She wonders if perhaps it is her own fault
If she was a better wife then it might halt

In fact, he is nothing but a vicious brute
Who, long ago, deserved to get the boot

“He’s my husband & I love him, she said
Finally one day, her family found her dead

The only defense Robert was able to make
“Ever to have married her was a big mistake.”
