Don'T Get Attached

Wrapped in the sheets,
Her scent all around me.
I listen to my heart beat,
Wishing my dreams hadn't become reality
Her quiet whispers echo in my ears.
The promises, the lies
The birth of my fears
All started with my one night stand.
Drunken courage, daring approaches
All intent towards a night of no strings
No attachments, no commitment
Been through to much
To get close again
But here we are
I'm tied to you
Forever yours
and as you whispered you love me
and said we'd never part
the only words that came to my lips we're
"what beautiful words for such a cynical heart"
I'm trapped in your lies
But I'm blind, playing off
the pain and fear as butterflies
Don't get attached
It's the repeating mantra
in my head
But I'll go
where I'm lead
Following your voice
like the drug you've become.
