Don't criticize Me!

Her hair was a mess
like a tumble weed
I had on short socks
made of tweed
She was staring down at my ankle
It was fully exposed
my thoughts were uncomposed
We pretend like there is no tension
but it's there
We just don't have the courage
to bring it out into the air
So we pass pleasantries back and forth
a penny for her thoughts
would be well what it's worth.
SO TELL ME THE TRUTH
I am not playing the sleuth
Give it to me unfiltered
Give it to me raw
It's not that easy,
our true thoughts we stall
So don't criticize and judge
my fat little pudge
but if you do
tell it to me straight
so we can all get along
and this bridge we will gate.
