Don'T Blame the Cops

'Reverends' Sharpton and Jackson are the leading Fomenters In Chief,
And as usual are spewing racial nonsense, adding to the nation's grief.
It would certainly be novel if they would find more productive things to do,
Like preaching God's love, peace and tolerance to people in their pew!

Most cops take their jobs seriously and perform dedicated service.
Alas, some are outright bullies and they should make us nervous.
But they must take appropriate action when faced with those,
Who think the rules don't apply to them and I think that is apropos.

True, 'tis so sad that two young men lost their lives the other day.
If they hadn't resisted the cops, it wouldn't have turned out that way .
What is to be gained by looting and rioting if things don't go your way,
Robbing innocent shop owners and me as well since its taxes I must pay!

If youth were disciplined and taught respect for authority at Mothers' knee,
Perhaps they'd save themselves a ton of grief and I'd hope you would agree.
Two Grand Juries held cops blameless tho' their ruling many folks reject.
I come down on the side of the cops who I was always taught to respect!

G'day Robert... It's so easy to knock police but they never get invited to a party to have a good time. Like every group in our communities there are good, and there are not so good. God help us if there were no police. Thank you Robert - Lindsay

This is a very heavy and strong poem. Bob H., glad to read it today, and it's not the cops I blame, but their actions in some situations, especially when they could have been handled differently. Love this... Merry Christmas. Love LINDA

I agree, Robert. When a congress woman says that evidence is irrelevant to the matter at hand, this country is in deep trouble..... Of course there are bad cops, as there bad in every facet of life, even religious leaders. But we should be careful of who we choose for martyrdom.. Hugs.. Arlene

This resonates with me. When the media writes "White Cop kills black youth" it immediatly becomes about race. I trust that most police officers are doing their best to protect the public. This was a very unfortunate situation that would not have happened had there been no crime commited.

I think the jury is the group that hears all the details and knows the case better than we all do, so I trust their judgement. But the bad apples in every barrel spoil it for society!

you've expressed yourself very well in this poem, bob. i'll never understand how looting and rioting help any situation and it's a fact that certain leaders only add fuel to the fire.

Thanks Robert for your insightful ideas, this is what we need to open minds and stir the apathy among our citizens. Every point of view is important.
