Domestic Chaos

Dirty sheets Blank canvas Washing on the line Television blaring Children playing I am running out of time Toys on stairs Mucky baby Hungry relatives Phone ringing Neighbours singing Dog biting my sleeves Flour on the floor Doorbell dinging The microwave pings Burning fingers Oven smoking Scribble a list for shopping Children crying Husband calls I slip on a toy car Forgetting something Mothers on her way! This has gone too far I scream a shout And everything stops The children slowly come to me Husbands eyes, say it all “I think its time to help mummy” The dogs kicked out, The toys collected The husbands got the trash out The neighbours shut up The baby's washed All thanks to my desperate shout The door is answered Burning fingers are soothed The kids throw the washing on the line The husband mops The children are angels, I sigh, “About bleeding time”
