Doin' Just Fine

DOIN' JUST FINE Dr. Jim Martin “How ya’ doin’?” was his usual greeting, As each morning there was the routine meeting. “Doin’ pretty well,” I’d usually reply, And wonder if he ever, really cared why. Then one day much to his surprise, I totally ignored with downcast eyes. As I cautiously tried to hurry on by, I received from him a curious reply. “Too good to speak?” he loudly inquired, Which prompted me that a response was required. I hastily apologized for my arrogant air, With hopes that his courtesies I could easily repair. “I’m doin’ just fine!” I to him reported, And hoped that genuineness would not be distorted. From that day on, each and every morn, Attention was paid to a friendship that was born.
