Notes About The Poem

Dog-Life

(Lada on a walk, 2025)

It’s a dog’s life when everything goes your way
From belly scratches to regular feedings
And long daily walks
And it’s a dog’s life when you get just an old bone
Dug up in the yard, but at least something
To gnaw on when bored
Cold and wet or hot and dusty
Alone but nevertheless resilient
Waiting for your best friend
To lift you up again
And remind you just how good
It can be, to simply be.
