Does Money Own You

The game of life is filled with greed,
People that are eager to fill a need
Money takes first place,
While what is most important becomes erased
Family’s pay a price
Just to have something nice,
You can’t take it when you die
None of this will matter in the sky.

Yet so much damage is caused by the dollar
It does not take being a well known scholar
To see the effects of what it brings
Look around at everyone and everything
People have killed themselves over stocks
While there are so many children that don’t even have socks.

Money is good to have, but not when it makes you go mad
Many have sold their souls just to obtain the most
Inside it's their "god" and has become their personal ghost,
Their wants grow into unfruitful trees,
Little streams become ravenous seas.

When you put it all into perspective,
When you know the true meaning of life,
It’s not about what materials you have,
It is about if you lived in peace, or in strife,
Did you get to enjoy your children, husband or wife?

Very nice...I agree we do write a lot about the same things and have the same type or same train of thought. Keep up the great poems and keep in touch. ~Chris Matt
