Dodging the Bullet

When death came ‘a calling,’
again thus denied

The future remortgaged
—payment applied

This is a wonderfull poem. Because it is so short, each word is essential and packed with image. You must have studied Emily Dickenson to be so economic and evocative.

Thanks Paul. I like Emily but I've never consciously tried to write like her (or anybody).
