Do the Dance

Vows were spoken, promises made
The words seemed so sincere,
but slowly through the years
The love turned into tears

We had it all here in our hands
but we let it slip away
As the dream begins to fade
don't quite know what to say

Now I stand alone at the rainbows end
wonder where's the pot of gold
From a story long ago
I guess only heaven knows

The curtain falls on the stage of love
with a sad siloquy
Oh love is never free
and you pay so tenderly

Sometimes it lasts forever,
sometimes it's just romance
Sometimes you play the fiddle,
sometimes you do the dance
