Do Not Judge Yourself
Why feel our life examined, and then failed?
Evidence may show this is no fact
To me .alas, I live beyond the Pale
I’d like to go outside with my face veiled
I’d like to be regarded with great tact
Why feel my life examined and then failed?
My inner life is holy but curtailed
As if I have survived a dreadful wreck
To me .alas, it feels absurdly real
To be without a father hurts the child
A sense of shame descends and kills respect
Who should be examined and then failed?
I did no damage nor did I run wild
I do not feel like One of the Elect
To me my life ran ragged, then derailed
O Father, where are you, oh who would pick
To take our family life and you evict?
Why feel one’s life examined and then failed?
To me .alas, it feels like a true tale
