Do Not Announce Your Giving
When you give to the ‘needy’,
Do not announce it with trumpets.
For this is what the hypocrites do
In the synagogues, churches and banquets.
Let your giving be in secret.
This is what the Father asks;
Then He will reward you
With success in all your tasks.
When you give to others
Who are in greater need,
It’s the Holy Spirit calling you;
With your heart, He’ll gently plead.
Do not tell your brother or sister
What, in secret, you have done;
Least you lose your reward,
Or your good deeds become undone.
It’s not to be proud—
That we help our fellow man;
For it’s only by the grace of God—
That we truly can.
When we sow these seeds of love,
We are graced with love in return.
God watches over every seed;
Helps, us by sharing, to learn.
Do not announce your giving;
Keep it secret always.
So that God will truly bless it,
Over each seed, He asks us each to pray.
Every seed that we sow
Helps in the harvest of souls.
God is given the glory;
Our fire is provided coals.
