Do Exactly What I Say

“Do exactly as I say”, He said
And you will be safe
“Don’t listen to others”, He read
And it will keep you safe

“Follow these instructions to the letter”
He mentioned earnestly to me
“And you will end up better”
And I understood He meant “free”

“I will shake the earth”
He said with a smile
“And you would know your worth”
-	Which I had missed all the while

“I will break the gates of the jail”
He sung to me as a refrain
“My Word will never fail”
I heard in my shackled pain

“I will then bind your wounds”
He motioned with His hand
And we sang praise to tunes
Soon all would understand
