Dizain Contest

When a mother dies, her family sighs Speeches are made, funeral orations You seek to know why, then break down and cry Circle the wagons: close friends, relations Comfort from flowers -- roses, carnations... The hours move slowly; then days become weeks The return to routine at first seems bleak Yet as time passes, a curtain's lifted From on high to her brood, Mom again speaks Love abidingly deep ~ Heaven-gifted December 15, 2019

My mother is highly ill, so this poem resonates in my soul today. She fell and has a broken rib and a broken foot, and is being admitted to the hospital she left four days ago, so this one really hits me hard, my friend. Nothing like a mother's love. Unfortunately she is 6.5 hours away, and we are in a blizzard.

May your mother have a speedy and complete recovery --- as you (seemingly miraculously did recently!), and then go on to live to 120! Healing wishes, Gershon

Hi Gershon, My mother is still with me. But my father has passed on. It hurt me deep and I still miss him. I fell into deep depression, everytime I heard "Dance With My Father" by Luther Vandross I cried. I still miss him and it hurts, but with time I learned to go on. But I will miss him until I leave this earth. I can't even bare to think about loosing my mother. You've penned a well written poem for the contest theme. I wish you the best of luck in the contest my friend- Alexis

Here's wishing you no more sorrow, Alexis: Only additions to your family; no subtractions…. Your love for your parents is certainly inspiring! Blessings, Gershon
