All too true. Nowadays you can almost marry on a whim because divorce is so readily available. Alas, there are marriages where divorce is the only salvation for the legally (but unhappily) tied. A smartly observed acrostic, Andrea.

Yes you are right.. but many are now not getting married the traditional way with such vows.. but no matter the tradtions, culture, faith and ethnicity, divorce is rising globally.. its not like back in the day when people stayed together.. times have changed, women have more rights and more powers and are more independent and so can set themselves free from bad marriages, unlike back in the day... your acrostic is one of the best ones I have read..

Yes you are right. Times have changed TOO much in my opinion. Meanwhile there are many countries still treating their women like slaves. Too bad there is no happy medium in this world. Glad you like my acrostic.

Obviously some people do not know the meaning of the word VOW. Yet, I agree. People change, love is like life, you get out of it what you put into it. Good luck, sweetie:)

Lust doesn't last, Yann. Real love takes patience and effort.

Ah people dont really change dear sweet andrea, somethings we learn when living together. Since you do so much research, i was wondering if you’ve ever checked which country is on the top for highest divorce rate. Hah check that out you will find a fun fact. To me divorce is a norm especially this generation. I think what we must advocate is to not get married too early or too fast :/ i love reading your work always. Sending you light

Cool that you are a psychologist. I was going to major in that but too much science. I chose the easier path of ESL teacher.

Wow your mother is so strong. Schizophrenia is very hard to deal with for loved ones. Whilst mental health is challenging itself its also challenging for those involved. Iv seen it close too. And as a psychologist i know how hard it can be. Yes me too I envy hahah lolol so hard to find good men these days. But ofcourse i wont generalize, but still. You made me laugh

My mom had the misfortune of marrying a lovely man who retuned from the Korean war with schizophrenia. Even more shocking is that she stayed five years, bearing his four daughters. She had no other recourse but to leave because of the abuse. It is sad because he became a shell of his former self by living on meds the rest of his life. Sadly we are a country filled with mentally ill people, so I can't blame anyone divorcing s spouse who is impossible to live with . I really envy women who find kind normal men!

Wow you are an inspiration for us all then. Maldives actually is on google too as the country with the highest divorce rate lolol so i see divorce everywhere: my parents too divorced and maybe is one reason why i dont find divorce shocking but stories like yours I find inspiring and shocking and gives me hope. I am divorced too. And yes you are right interests change , etc ofcourse run if its a psycho, you are the cutest

I meant that their interests change. They grow apart. I married at 19 .it's now been 48 years of marriage with some horrible downs as well as good things. I guess I can't understand people divorcing when I know good and well that many of them have not tolerated things like what happened in my own marriage. I DO believe battered women need to get out of their marriages and anyone married to a psycho. Haha

Painful acrostic. Yes, people change for the better or worse. To know we've not loved wholeheartedly or what leads us astray gives us a perspective only divorce provides. Sometimes healing comes from a tear.

Of course there are cases when divorce is necessary. It's just so sad when it happens to people who once had strong love for each other.

Very sad subject, and you did well on it in your acrostic Andrea. It really is a terrible thing for everyone, the couple, especially the children, even the ex-family-in-law complications.

Yes it is .half my sisters did and they had very good reasons. One became an unemployed druggie and the other's hubbie was taking both weed and booze and threatened her life. I don't understand why so many men are abusive!

I've never been divorced but know countless folks who have. Your accrostic says it all...divorce is hard, just plain ol' hard. Thanks for putting words to the feelings and challenges. Have a splendid week, Sara

Yes I know a lot of them too. I know one lady who goes through men like Kleenex. Seven times. I asked her why and she said she fell out of love. . So silly. Romantic feelings don't last forever. Her husband's were not even bad guys. People should just live together and not have kids if they want to be that fickle.

Having been through it myself, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Yet it's been happening since the beginning. Nice acrostic Andrea

Just things you said in the past made me believe you were a bit of a religious fanatic, that's all. Heck there are people in the south who actually believe Mormons have horns and have many wives. The more I learn of all religions, the less I believe any of them are completely true. And even though I never divorced, I have wanted to. So I don't condemn anyone who does it.

Haha. Too funny. We live in an imperfect sinful world with imperfect sinful people. Do you suppose JW's never make mistakes? Wouldn't that be a bit naive? Even Jesus made allowance for divorce in certain cases - Matthew 19:3-9. It's Jesus' shed blood that saves us, not our perfect works

You got divorced? That surprises me. Maybe I am wrong about the religion I thought you practiced.
