Essential stage musician
Upstaged backstage
they sang the new song
then the original cast of singers
looked to them with a sadness
that was visible and bowed to
their successors without a fuss
or argument
When the curtain opened
they had been prepared to
entertain flabbergasted
the delay in the starting of the show
had the audience worried
but when the show began everyone was
flabbergasted
