Distant Lover

The pen touches the
      page
and the wounds begin
to heal
   Seeking solace in wordplay
Psychic traumas
  are assuaged by
flowing waters of love
Pain leaves us
   when our minds meet
    erasing the miles
between us
  Our ages are very different
but our souls don't notice
    Our third eyes
see for thousands of miles
Acroos the water
Over the land
   All the bitter
sorrows we have
     tasted
No longer, passing us
    We drink the
nectar of a platonic
    friendship
Feel the cooling winds
    on our overheated
bodies
Behind our masks
Our real features
begin to manifest
themselves
If we are scorned
  or insulted
We know we have each
other to turns to
    In the end
Our bonds will prove
    stronger than time itself
Our spirits are dancing
   Even as winter brings frost
and ice covers the trees
  leaving patterns on its branches

This celebration of platonic love has a lovely flow and poignant tone, Matthew. How true that some friendships can be very therapeutic. Thank you for stopping by and drawing me to yours. I look forward to reading more. (Minor spell check..."across the waters" and ..."we have each other to turn to In the end.")

wow, what a great tribute to platonic love. I admire this kind of love. Glad you liked my poem, Matt. Nice seeing you this week. Time gets away from me in more ways than one, like keeping up with all the great poets here like yourself. Luv, Andrea
