Distant Friends

Distant friends of a happy past,
our happiness was not to last...

I got rid of all hopes
the same day we kept the distance;
there was no other way
of saying what bothered me,
and everytime you laughed at me:
I stood there looking,
without even smiling!
What a fool,you thought I was,
who did nothing
to explain why
you left me no choice!

Distant friends of a happy past,
our happiness was not to last!

Even though we had an affair,
we didn't get lucky enough
to keep it forever;
why shouldn't we laugh?

Distant friends of a happy past,
our happiness was not to last!

You seem so mad at me,today...
as almost you want to say,
so openly and angrily,
"You are avoiding me,
and indifferent enough
not to be sorry
for your senseless wrong...
and not to take some of the blame!"

Distant friends of a happy past,
our happiness was not to last!
