Dissolve

Laura
February 5, 2016

It's a fitting way to delay the bitter days
With rays of sunshine peaking between the window blinds
Showing ways we cannot say to find a brighter path today
The safe place that we can see exists inside our troubled minds

Tattoos we set on tarnished skin to show the world just what we see
They're on our sleeves where freedom rings a song that we both know
I'm scared of all that you could do to break my fragile sanity
I know the love I give to you; it's dangerous to let it show

So we venture out into this world of twisted lies disguised as forgotten truths
We make a pact on a fresh foundation that gives my heart a thicker skin
Again with you I feel the fire of my soul burning in the nights of our youth
To start anew askew from beaten paths we left behind to start again

It's such a wicked, perilous game we play with our broken hearts
A high-stakes game of chess we play with fragmented minds
But in this dawn without a yesterday we found a place where life can start
So if I'm really losing my mind, then let's just enjoy the breeze as we're flying blind

Lose control; just let the apprehension dissolve in a jar of loneliness
Give me an original kiss that will make a memory I'll already miss
With great trepidation, we can still decide to fall into this prescious piece of bliss
The morning is ours to have alone, without a shred of our former abyss
