Displays of Might

This world of pre-historic scene,
the rising of the ancient sun,
and the sights of the Miocene
     together made the cycles run,
from seasons never before seen,
     epochs ago which yet begun.

The lungs of time and of the earth,
filled with the air's fresh oxygen,
renewed themselves with each rebirth
     of nature (before early men)
when the periods of short-lived dearth
     ended, so springtides may begin.

Do men perceive things heaven-sent?
And whenceforth came displays of might,
such as the miracle event
as when God said, “Let there be light!”
and then Creation's firmament
took form on the first day, and night.
