Disillusioned
Disillusioned
I’ll smile just as expected
I’ll do just as you please
‘Cause only smiling seems to make
The terrorizing cease
I have to mind the people
Opinions may abound
Impressions should not raise a brow
I shall not make a sound
I have to mind your status
I have to check my mood
I can’t just make my feelings count
It won’t do any good
I’ll swallow every sorrow
I’ll keep my lips in check
I’ll see to it that when they stare
I charmingly smile back
Inward I’m slowly dying
Not that it means a thing
I will make sure that no one knows
I will survive each sting
Somehow I seem to manage
I’ve found a way to deal
I’ve learned to keep on smiling
When I would prefer to squeal
And smiling has done wonders
I reckon happily
But the only one left to convince
Is the disillusioned me.
