Dilated Cardiomyopathy

Listen to poem:
"My heart is broken" I told the cardiologist. On our first meeting. Not in the romantic way, per say. But actual physical trauma. The strain of living that lie took it's toll. Not just on my heart, but my soul. Years of not being allowed to be me. Swollen heart, otherwise diminished totally. I would not have survived another year. That much was clear. Not another day could my heart endure. It had grown too big for it's cavity. You broke my heart but I broke free. My cardiologist is pleased with me. Still heart block but normal echo and ECG. Now, I write poetry and sing my heart out.

Morning Darren. My mind says my heart is fine on it's own, but my poor wee heart is a sucker for punishment. It was lonely yesterday. When will it ever learn?

You broke my heart but I broke free-Brave lady.I admire your courage. So many have to change who they are just to please the one tbey love...But one day tbey ll get too tired..Sometimes it is too late for them to break the chains. Its sad when we are not loved for who we are..A fave...

If I am writing a poem and start to cry, as I did writing this, then I am blessed to have found the release valve that poetry has brought to me. Thank you for understanding Charmaine.
