Dignity of Manual Labor
Dignity of Manual Labor
by Lori Maria Walton
These, my manual extensions
designed for dexterity
give, to you, my treasure
These, you take from me
denigrating my identity,
No acknowledgement of difference
only indifference and emptiness
Extend the strand you hold,
with my warmth
I will wrap and preserve
your weakness
Let me walk tall, among
your books, and give to you
the wisdom of my hands
