We had never "hated" people different than us before; I blame a certain media station.

Great message. i love what Rico said. it's so sad that people exist who act like that man he described.

Hate is quite beyond my ken. I'll never forget setting down for breakfast in bootcamp at a table where a trooper was mouthing off about African-Americans. I told him to shut up whilst I ate my breakfast and he replied, "Well what would you do if one of them asked your sister to dance?" and I replied, "Nothing, as plenty already have," at which he shook from head to toe, his upper lip quivering like a leaf in a breeze, he grabbed his tray, left the table, and never spoke to me again.
