Diary of An Aging Man
Today started with a new grey hair.
I find myself enjoying the air.
I think about what I'm going to do.
Not like a young man would do.
Irony is when I risk my life to feel alive.
Today the lines in my face are more defined.
My taste for life is more refined.
I was never one to stay inside the lines.
Body aches remind me of the life I've led.
A thirst for adventure and finding out what's ahead.
Today there's more stroll in my step.
That race, the tortoise has my bet.
The pain in my feet reflect the hills I've climbed
The road more traveled is harder to find
The cost of wisdom is a life full of mistakes and regret.
Today my back made a "pop" sound
My children is where my happyness is found.
My sadness can be found in the wings of a dragonfly.
If I say that out-loud I might start to cry
Tears come easier with pain and age.
Today I woke up.
