Di Mango Tree's Lament

Di mango tree deh pon di hilltop, high an' grand! Mango dem a dangle ripe an' sweet and in demand. Mango season come- di time when mi shine- People come from all 'round fi taste how mi juice fine! Di sun a blaze an' mi fruit dem swell, Mi branches heavy wid di sweetness, mi a tell! Di ripe mango dem a glisten bright like gold. Dem call out fi di pickins'; a story mi unfold! Di children dem come wid stone an' stick inna hand, Dem aim fi di mango, a try dem best fi land. "Lick di mango tree!" dem shout- full ah jubilance, full ah cheer Cause mi know dem ongle waa fi taste mi, mi Dear! Mi so sweet an' tempting, full ah nectar rich, An' di season mi provide is a taste dat nuh switch. Mi feel di sting when di stone dem hit mi bark, But mi still hold mi sweetness, mi never lose mi spark! Di mango season bring mi joy an' some bring mi strife, As mi bear di fruits of mi labour, a true delight! Dem stone an' dem shout but mi love di play For di sweeter di mango, di more dem waan fi sway. So when di mango tree a dance in di breeze, An' di fruits dem ripe an' full, mi know full-well is time fi appease. Mi know di stone dem aggo come but mi bear it true, For di taste of mi mango, worth di trouble mi go through.
