Devil Talk
Lashes on your back, gossip is the Devil's whip
It can be over a back yard fence of a coffee shop
You are never in a courtroom to tell your side
They are so happy with a hateful tongue and loose lip
To hear them tell it, they are the cream of the crop
When the facts are heard, they run and hide
Lies to them, thinks it makes a better story
"Rake him over the coals and hang him high"
"Tar and feather him, run him out of town"
Smear his name in the mud, that is their glory
But never look you in the eye
"Boy, you had better be gone when the Sun goes down"
Shaking their fists and pointing a finger
"I tell you he the one, he is guilty"
First one, then two and three, until there is a mob
More fuel to the fire, out of their minds that if filled with anger
Mas hysteria and a lunatics insanity
"Let's get a rope and do our job"
They say the guilty dog, barks the most and the loudest
While the truth stands calm to hear what is said
When the river of gossip runs dry, the Devil will take a walk
The Sun will rise in the East and gossip will be put to rest
We can rest assure at night, when we rest our head
Pray that this will end the Devil's talk
