Destruction of the Soul

What can you do
When you can't take the pain?
When you have everything to lose,
But nothing to gain?
What happens when everyone is gone
And you're alone with the fear?
Do you give up on this life,
Or fight without a single tear?
Everyone thinks you're happy
When you're really about to break.
You would sell your very soul
Just to dull that awful ache.
Smothered by the silence
And terrified of the night,
As the darkness slowly advances,
You are much too weary to fight.
How do you fight Death itself,
And ignore its morbid chill?
Your heart is too heavy to go on
And the sadness makes you ill.
