Depression Sucks
Depression sucks all rational thoughts from your brain
Body aches and it feels like an empty crumpled sack
Your heart grieves for many things and tries to keep up
When your brain starts cycling thoughts like a fast moving train
But depression doesn’t like to work alone he needs his friends
So he invites stress, anxiety, doubt and guilt to the party
Stress and anxiety are a couple one never far from the other
Doubt has no self-confidence and guilt is always just around the bend
You try to keep them out but they always find their way in
They never come to lift you up but to leave you feeling helpless
Rolling around in your head one fighting the other for their turn
Stress is first then anxiety chimes in doubt follows but guilt usually wins
So the next time they want to come over and have a party in your head
Invite joy, happiness and contentment you can find them hanging out with Jesus
They won’t even come over if they hear Jesus is there standing at the door
So Invite Jesus, he is always available and brings the best wine and bread
