Departed

Sunny days are past gone, Bright and clear I'd love to see, My happy days are worn. Much I'd want to be done, Nothing outdoor excites me, Sunny days are past gone. How I'd love to relish in the morn, Sit and look far to the sea, My happy days are worn. All look dreary and forlorn, How long would this be? Sunny days are past gone, Within I seek moments of fun, Outdoor I sigh and flee, My happy days are worn. In your arms, nature is born, Beauty and hue bring me glee, Sunny days are past gone, My happy days are worn. September 1, 2022. First Person Villanelle Poetry Contest, L. Milton Hankins.
