demons

I wear the mask of pitch-bllack eyes of darkness to hide myself away from a heavy shroud pulled tight against the light. To end, to surrender, to bury my facial spirit,Wrapped in deep silence, losing control—

Crawling through shadows, escaping their gaze,Lost in the quiet, learning the phantom steps of who I've become in this maze. Then—the shattering.Under the cold eyes of a judging heart of the beholder.

And i whisper lies to the sweet ghost I used to be,Drowning in the darkness that swallows me of thoughts that feel like death.

The poem’s fragmented form and abrupt pauses convey a powerful sense of inner turmoil. The mask, shroud, and “sweet ghost I used to be” create haunting imagery of concealment and a painful distance from the former self. The song titles are woven naturally into the poem’s dark imagery, while the abrupt pauses convey inner turmoil. ‘The sweet ghost I used to be’ is especially haunting.' It is best described as a prose poem: it uses paragraph-like blocks rather than clearly defined verse lines, while retaining poetic imagery, metaphor, and emotional intensity.
