I wish I knew to turn away a kiss, a breath; a moment’s brush returned a warmth long cast astray and carried hope within a touch, a look that blazed straight through my shell and burning, saw it turn to dust then gazing back upon what fell, imploring me at last to trust. To sit within and now reflect on how such trials get their start and learn the ultimate respect for what can break a soul apart... The words I spoke I know are true (albeit patently unfair for now I see within them grew in you, the doubt; in me, despair) These eyes, I wish to make them close, not look upon another face, allow the turmoil its repose, no further purest hearts disgrace. Yet still I know (my deepest fear) that given every second chance I’d choose the same that led me here and freed this broken soul to dance...
