Defining Me

I don’t want to be
One of those girls
Relying on a man
Constant fiscal swirl

I am independent
Most of the time
But all can be weak
Well in our prime

I don’t need a man
To define who I am
I just need confidence
I don’t give a damn

I don’t want to be
One of the many
Where gifts are given
And count the pennies

So here I sit alone
The girl with plenty
Non monetary items
But the love of many
