Defining Life

much more than intellect
so much greater than spirit
more than what we accept or reject
a force never permitted to quit
       slowly beginning to realize
       life's true definition
       surely beginning to idolize
       those existing in oblivion
forever trapped in an experiment
our fleshly existence
is merely punishment
for the sins of our essence
       dense clouds of uncertainty
       casting shadows of defiance
       on the illusion of reality
in an effort to build our reliance
on superficial trash
created solely to torment
before being turned to ash
without ever having to repent

This to me comes in as the dark side of the life, which sadly is something many experience. Life is so many things depending on how you look at it, ugliness or beauty is defined by the eyes cast upon it. This is very deep Christy and so well written. I think when a poem makes me think.
