Defenseless

I find myself back in a space I tried to escape
My efforts to change a waste
My true self hiding behind a cape
This pathetic self, leaves me with a vile taste
I am not this thing I can’t control
Though I feel like I just want to let go
Constantly working towards a goal
To help and love everyone, not just for a show
The world right now is unbearable
I see so much hatred
What people are doing to one another is terrible
Life is sacred
Nothing I do will change things
Nothing I say will make a difference.
Who knows what tomorrow brings
Perhaps just a stance of indifference.
Nothing I do will change the world around me.
If I had faith, I would pray for everyone to have empathy
I know few people see what I see
My weakness is my sympathy.
