Deer in the headlights
Deer in the headlights
Through a dirty windshield
Staring at me
Like she knows how I feel
I'm too jangled to sleep
And too tired to drive
I'll find a forest road
And pull up for the night
A blanket of stars
Wind hissing through trees
It's always nature
That cradles me
At the end of the day
She's all I have
Well… a ballpoint pen
And this paper
I'll write a love song
To no one for no one to sing
These words tumbling out
They are the night breeze
I take in the mountains
Under the Yukon sky
Jesus on the radio
Clear rivers flowing by
A shy bear bumbles
Back into the brush
A caribou grazes
Next to tourist bus
Alaska to Canada
And into Montana
Forests, fields, mountains
The whole panorama
Fall blazing the valley
Sun painting the hills
I'm just lucky to be here
That's how I feel
Yeah I’ve touched heaven
And I've burned in hell
Sometimes a man
Just needs to exhale
Ten thousand miles
By the time I get home
That's how far
I need to roam
And no, there is nothing
i'm looking for
I know what's behind
About every door
I'm way too simple
To need too much
Yeah just being here
That is enough
Good night sweet angel
Good night mama deer
I think I can sleep now
It's all so clear
