Deep in Prayer

O'er Jerusalem's hills the sun sinks
    lower, lower
  'til 'tis but a memory

   Horizons dim 'til
     the promise of today
   is extinguished
     by darkness' sway

   Stars appear: twinkle, glisten
     forming constellations
   Israel deep in prayer
     alone among the nations

Freitig nacht gekummen Yiddish for 'Friday night has come'
     wrapped in mystery
   A people of haunting emotions
     preserving its history

Am Yisrael Chai! So many of us in prayer for our Israel daily. My church is taking a few members along with the pastor to Israel next year. How I so wish I could go. But I'm too physically infirm. I'm going to give one of the church members my poem, "The Persecuted," to place at the Western Wailing Wall, that's my plan anyway. Shalom u'vrakha :)
