Deep in Prayer

  O'er Jerusalem's hills the sun sinks 
    lower, lower 
  'til 'tis but a memory

   Horizons dim 'til 
     the promise of today
   is extinguished
     by darkness' sway

   Stars appear: twinkle, glisten
     forming constellations
   Israel deep in prayer
     alone among the nations

   Freitig nacht gekummen                  Yiddish for 'Friday night has come'
     wrapped in mystery
   A people of haunting emotions 
     preserving its history

How I so wish I could go. But I'm too physically infirm. I'm going to give one of the church members my poem, "The Persecuted," to place at the Western Wailing Wall, that's my plan anyway.
