Author's Notes: "Deep in Our Hearts," is a special couplet that I just completed on August 1, 2017. In this special write I explored the notion of "true love" in our mortal world as an integral aspect by God's very design as each of us seek out its ultimate meaning in the depths of our souls. I approached this theme from both a reflective and a metaphorical perspective, whereby I sought to highlight the essential importance of a "true love" occurring between two people as it closely impacts their life together, and helps them as they ultimately connect with their respective souls as they seek to understand their "heavenly destiny." My final intention with this poem was to write something that would be uplifting; something that each of us can and could relate to, as we search "deep in our hearts" to fulfill a "never-ending desire" for "true love" which holds the key for our souls' final journey into God's kingdom of eternal light. Given the reflective nature of this type of theme and the poem I ended up crafting, I would also expect that each reader might have their own individual interpretation of this theme as well, which is, of course, perfectly fine too!! Deep in Our Hearts Deep in our hearts, there’s a never-ending desire, That seeks to filleth our souls now precious pure. This desire brings our fiery passions to conspire, As our emotions and heartbeats merge now one. Our love shineth now ever-bright in Heaven’s light, As God’s angels sing paeans to our passions’ delight. The true love we mortals find is by God’s very design, As we seek its meaning in the deep pool of our souls. The enchanted beauty of this true love we have as two, Brings our hearts to the moment when they beat as one. This true love transcends the mortal limits of this Earth, Whilst gently coaxing our souls to their heavenly destiny. Deep in our hearts, our souls make this final sacred journey, As angels accompany us into Almighty God’s eternal light. Gary Bateman, Copyright © All Rights Reserved August 1, 2017 (Couplet)

Very romantic poem, Gary. Love the line ... this true love transcends the mortal limits of this Earth. Any poem w/the word "transcend" in it is a winner by my book. That is one of my all-time fave word. You penned an excellent poem of love and faith. Love and joy always.

Hello Freddie (aka: "Poet Pac-Man"), I'm very pleased you liked this particular couplet on "Deep in Our Hearts." Although I'm a multi-thematic type of poet and writer, I tend to really enjoy doing uplifting themes that touch on enchantment, passion, love, desire, and the human soul. "Transcend" just happens to be one of my favorite words too!! (I will be getting back to posting more regularly during November. I've been away for a while due to sickness and some computer problems that needed resolving.) I will venture by also in the future to check out your always great poetry. Best Wishes Always, Gary

Thanks Carol for your gracious comment here and for your observation. I'm pleased you liked this write. It took me years, in fact, to find that one true love and that person is my wife of twenty-six years. And we met by happenstance. But it is so hard for people in general for there are many pitfalls and difficulties in meeting that special genuine person. I'm still an optimist though -- at heart. Best Always, Gary

Hallo Herr Professor (Demetrios) . . . Ich bedanke mich sehr mein guter Freund!! I'm very grateful for your wondrous and perceptive comments here. And yes, for sure, my "Author's Notes" should always be considered in tandem with every poem and I write and post. (They are the essential backstory about what I write, and are the intellectual backdrop to each poetic word-picture I attempt to craft in each poem I complete.) Best Wishes from Ingrid and me!! Gary
